The principles of environmental management are defined in the environmental policy
|
As a responsible processor of natural resources, Vapo Oy acknowledges its own environmental impacts and is prepared to minimise any adverse effects of its operations, and to develop its operations in an environmentally friendly direction.
To reach these goals, Vapo has developed an environmental policy which provides the framework for managing environmental matters and commits the company to observing the policy in all its countries of operation. |
|
The environmental policy, which has been approved by Vapo's Board of Directors, contains the principles of utilising natural resources in a responsible way, recognising the origins of the raw materials and the impacts of the operations, minimising environmental impacts, and recognising the needs of the customers and society.
In this way, Vapo’s environmental policy complements the legal obligations and ensures the customers that environmental aspects have been taken into account in producing a product or a service. In day-to-day operations, work is guided by the management principles, goals, programmes, and control and supervision principles that have been drawn up on the basis of the environmental policy.
The group management steers the development of the shared operating principles, but the business areas are responsible for everyday environmental issues locally. In matters concerning environmental research, the R&D Department allocates resources to research projects that are considered necessary, and research work is carried out in cooperation with stakeholders, research institutes and universities. |
